The hardest part is that my safety always comes into question when I’m being my most authentic self. I moved to Toronto because it was the queer metropolis of Canada. I'm from rural Alberta, where not only was I one of 4 People of colour but one of a handful of openly gay people. My safety comes into question at unexpected times. I’ve been attacked in the last 5 months on Bathurst St. and on College St. I was attacked on the bus on Bathurst. I was surrounded by people and no one said anything.
